Why the blog

I’ve never blogged because I don’t believe I’ll write consistently – it’ll prolly be one of those things I get into and eventually grow bored with. So why start now? This is my fourth time in Italy, and I’m not big on taking photos so I don’t really have much to show for all my vacations. It seems a waste not to record my vacation here since I always have a good time and it’s stuff I wanna remember. We’ll see what happens. :)

This being our 3rd day here in Italy, I’m gonna track back a little, and to Bangkok as well.

22nd July -

The trip started with a fair degree of drama. I was working right up til Sat, 19th July and spent Sun playing mahjong, so I only started packing for the trip on Monday. I’d already predicted disaster cos I usually start packing 2 or 3 weeks before the trip, adding items to the luggage now and then cos I tend to forget stuff. And that day, we had a gazillion errands to run, including dental cleaning appointments and changing currency. Plus I wanted to be home for dinner cos I knew I’m gonna miss homecooked food.

While changing currency in Chinatown, we spotted a shop selling PSP at $199. I’ve been eying it for a few weeks, but was reluctant to spend the money. Simone offered to pay for it and I really want some entertainment on the flight to Rome (Thai Airways isn’t great on in-flight entertainment) so I caved in. After some extras like extended battery life and a memory card with a bigger capacity, the total came up to about $400.

I ended up packing right up til the minute we left for the airport. Halfway between Hougang and Changi Airport on the TPE, Simone asked me if I’d remembered to bring the envelope of Thai baht. I’m usually pretty careful with money but this time… Sigh.. We had to turn back to get it and taxi fare came up to almost $25. Ah well… I’m just happy we made the flight.

Apart from the baht, there were a few other items that I left behind. A wide brown belt (which is okay since I’ve 2 other belts to wear) and shower gel (which I got from Boots in Bangkok, and I love Boots anyway). My biggest regret is having to leave the camera behind cos I couldn’t find the damn charger. Guess I’ll borrow Patrizia’s when we get to Italy.
